'Mobility and escape of African people forcibly enslaved in 19th and 20th century West Africa'
Part of Black History Month, Dr Benedetta Rossi, RCUK Fellow in International Slavery at the University of Liverpool, discusses strategies of emancipation in 19th and 20th century West Africa amongst the forcibly enslaved, and their attempts to regain their freedom through escape or negotiation with their masters.
