Walk for Life

FRIDAY October 14th, 3.30-5pm

We would like to invite you to Walk for Life on the 14th October 2011 between 3.30pm till 5pm in our beautiful Everton Park overlooking our great city of Liverpool. The event has been developed in partnership with a variety of organisations in and around the park, with the following aims:

  1. To promote walking for  health and well-being within Everton Park
  2. To increase the number of people using the park for recreation
  3. To raise awareness of cancer (early diagnosis)
  4. To raise money for the Lilly Centre in Vauxhall and its valuable work on cancer awareness

Walking is a great opportunity for individuals, friends and families to get active and be healthy.  Walking is known to

  1. Reduce the risk of many diseases e.g. heart disease, osteoporosis certain cancers, diabetes and stroke
  2. Help you lose, or maintain a healthy weight
  3. Reduce stress, depression, anxiety and also helps you sleep better
  4. Lower your Blood Pressure and Cholesterol and reduce your chances of having a heart attack
  5. And it’s free, enjoyable and you can do it anywhere, anytime!

There will be a SHORT WALK on a level section of the park for those wanting to ‘take it very easy’; and a LONG WALK for those feeling up to it – both walks will take place in the TOP PARK (opposite the North Liverpool Academy) – walkers can walk for as short or as long as they wish.

West Everton Community Council, on behalf of the Friends of Everton Park, will be administrating the event and  any sponsorship / monies raised on behalf of ‘The Lilly Centre’ in Vauxhall should be made payable to THE LILLY CENTRE.

WE DO HOPE YOU WILL URGE YOUR FRIENDS, NEIGHBOURS, FAMILY MEMBERS TO WALK FOR LIFE on FRIDAY October 14th, 3.30-5pm
