October 4, 2011 - 3pm – 5pm
The Henrietta Lacks Story, an event to celebrate Black History Month at Liverpool Cancer Research UK Centre.
Henrietta Lacks was a black American woman who died on 4th October 1951.
Cells taken from her body before her death became known by scientists as HeLa cells and would change the course of medical research forever.
This event, on the 60th anniversary of her death, offers the opportunity to hear the Henrietta Lacks story, to view HeLa cells in our labs, and meet researchers fighting cancer in Liverpool.
Liverpool CRUK Centre, 200 London Road, Liverpool, L3 9TA
The event is free, but booking is essential. See flyer for booking details.
